Outwood’s got Talent – Money raised for Academy Fund
£276 was raised in ticket sales from the event that took place on Friday 4th November.
This will spent on future community activities organised by P.C.Dave High, our Safer Schools Partnership Officer.
During the evening of Friday 4 November, South Yorkshire Police (SYP) Adwick did not receive any youth related, anti-social behaviour/firework related incidents in the local area. It is no coincidence that, for the fourth consecutive year now, ‘Outwood’s Got Talent’ once again played a major factor in engaging children and young people in the catchment area, helping SYP and our partners to keep the streets safe, youngsters safe and out of trouble.
The Christmas Raffle
The Christmas raffle will raise funds for our Annual Community Gala which is held in July each year. The first year the event ran we managed to get lottery funding amongst other grants and this enabled to Academy to put on a fantastic day for all the students, parents, carers and members of the community to enjoy. This included the Red Devils who parachuted into the school grounds with the Academy flag.
Unfortunately last year, due to the poor weather we had to move the event indoors, which meant that many of the acts and stalls we had booked could not attend.
We are hoping to raise enough money in during 2011-2012 to hire a marquee which will enable the event to continue regardless of the weather.
The Christmas raffle prize is a luxury hamper .

Students and local community members turned out in force to support the Academy’s first ever Christmas market. With a host of professional stalls as well as high quality items created by students, it was a perfect opportunity for some Christmas shopping. Stall holders on the day commented on the professionalism of organisation and the attitude and helpfulness of student volunteers. Many where keen to book ahead for next year’s event.
With the Community Room transformed into an illuminated Winter Wonderland, a visit to Santa proved a magical memory in the making for many families and guests. The team of elves up in the photo suite were a formidable production line!
The huge success of the day was topped by the amount raised for the Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Hospital; £1549.69.
Thankyou Letter. (.pdf)
We are already busy planning next year’s festivities, with the possibility of extending to 40 stalls.
Stalls included items made by year 8 students on their Deep Learning Day and festive outside stalls including chocolate treats, Christmas cards and decorations, novelty lollypops and much more.
6th Form Social Event
