Teacher of Science

 Outwood Academy Adwick are seeking to appoint, from Easter/September 2012, ambitious and highly effective Teachers of Science to be part of a thriving Faculty. We are looking for well-qualified and enthusiastic teachers to join our highly motivated, inspirational and professional workforce, who are confident working across the key stages. The positions would be suitable for either experienced or newly qualified teachers.

 The successful candidate will:

  • be a well-qualified teacher educated to Degree level
  • be an outstanding practitioner who can enthuse and inspire
  • be passionate about raising aspirations and improving educational life chances
  • Excellent classroom skills who is committed to raising standards for all students
  • A dynamic approach to learning and teaching with a “can do” attitude
  • A desire and ability to work with student across KS3/4/5

Head of English & MFL Faculty

Outwood Academy Adwick are seeking to appoint, from Easter 2012, an ambitious and highly effective Head of English & MFL to lead a thriving Faculty. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and inspiring subject specialist with exceptional communication and management skills to lead our dedicated and well-qualified team. If you have the drive and commitment to lead this team on its continuing journey to excellence, this may be the job for you.

The successful candidate will:
• be a well-qualified teacher educated to Degree level
• have strong leadership skills
• have a passion for English and language
• be an outstanding practitioner who can enthuse and inspire
• be passionate about raising aspirations and improving educational life chances
• be able to demonstrate a proven track record of leading improvement
• be willing to get involved in all aspects of the Academy’s life.

Outwood Academy Adwick opened in September 2009. The school accommodates 1200 students, 11-18 years. Popular in the local community, we offer a high-quality inclusive provision to all of our students. The Academy is due to move into a new building in January 2013.

2011 saw an increase in GCSE results with 98% of students achieving 5+A*-C grades and 51% achieving 5+A*-C including English and Maths. The English Department have seen year on year improvements in their GCSE results with 69% of students achieving A*-C in English in 2011.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through the teaching school at Outwood Grange Academy
